Honourable Mention for first up stall holders!

Not bad for our first year at the Taste of the Huon with Red Velvert Lounge/Steve Cumper and ourselves. Looks like we will have to ramp up the effort next year for the big gong.

Below there is a great article from Meryl Naidoo from the Mercury for a wrap on the TOTH!

YOUNG Jack Lark, of Junior MasterChef fame, was among star attractions at this year’s Taste of the Huon.

On a postcard-perfect long weekend a record 25,000 people attended to enjoy the best of one of the state’s richest food and wine regions.

“The record was 20,000 a few years ago, I think in 2010, last year was just under 20,000. Getting 15,000 on the first day compared to our usual 12,000 is a big jump for us,” fesival manager Roger Oates said.

“This is by far the most people we’ve ever had and the most successful event.

“It’s family friendly and a safe atmosphere, kids can run around and there is something for everyone which is why people turn up.

“Other reasons it’s popular is, children come in free and because it’s about smaller producers.”

“Ate a delicious pork knackwurst with sauerkraut and home-made spicy mustard from Fat Pig Farm (a.k.a. Rare Food). Drank a Blighs cider. David had a gypsy roll (cevapcici in a flatbread wrap) and a Huon Valley Soft Serve ice cream. I enjoyed an ice cream from Icecream From the Valley (it’s made one road north from us), as I did last year. Bought a blue alpaca wool jumper from Chakaya Alpacas, some riesling from Heron’s Rise and dukkah from Bodhi Farm Organics.”

When traveling Tasmania it’s always nice to find a gem and this is defiantly one. The Welborough Hotel is a small, independent country hotel in remote North Eastern Tasmania for those who love Tasmanian beers, ciders and softdrinks and locally sourced produce for their fresh approach to pub meals.

If you are after a traditional heritage listed hotel with buckets of charm, in the middle of Tasmanian wilderness, then you’ll probably agree. Established in 1876, the family run Weldborough Hotel and campground offers a real pub experience with a family friendly atmosphere at the gateway to the Blue Tier reserve.

It’s recommended by the Lonely Planet, Tasmania Edition 2012 and is a great place to try a Captain Blighs Cider.

Island menu is on of those food blogs…

you know… one of the million or so! Except this one is exceptional. Sam and Catherine have captured the essence of Tasmanian food… a strong coastal sense of being combined with our causal lifestyle. Their food is captured with envy as the onlooker wishes themselves to be included. Beautiful stunning imagery. So it was with pleasure to find our product on the dinner table for their Xmas spread… I hope they enjoyed as much as we did reading there stories of Tasmanian Food!
